First let me start off by saying how can you not watch this clip and get teary eyed. When I look at the heart of Oprah and how much compassion she carries for others, she reminds me of myself. Contrary to popular belief, I don’t live up to my full potential. At times I become my own worst enemy, stepping in the way of my greatness. A great friend once told me fear is taught, which brings me to the thought why am I not completely fearless.
Oprah Winfrey has strived hard to reach an uncommon goal, she has risen above stereotypes and proved success lies in the eye of the beholder. Becoming one of the wealthiest women in the world — who happens to be African American, is a phenomenal accomplishment. Mother O, as I have nicknamed her, reaches back and shares her compassion, wealth, and wisdom with the community. It’s amazing to experience how she has ability to connect with people in a way that makes everyone feel comfortable. Oprah Winfrey has a keen eye for success and the midas touch and I’m sure the “OWN” network will be around for years to come.
Having a role model such as Oprah Winfrey to look up to is a powerful tool. Mother O, gives me a clear view of what my life could be, as long as I work hard and apply myself. We will walk and serve different paths, however, just knowing Mother O has already walked a mile in shoes I’m trying to fulfill is very motivating. I love you Oprah Winfrey and thanks for being the kind, spirited, and generous person you are.
